The cloud has opened many doors for enterprises to enhance agility, security, and cost-effectiveness. However, many companies struggle to succeed in cloud as they fail to anticipate necessary changes to their internal skillsets to be self-sufficient in cloud. As a result, they fall short of achieving the value cloud offers, along with the burden of additional operational costs and dependency on third-party vendors.

Enter Blue Sentry Cloud (BSC), a different kind of cloud consultancy. The company provides strategic guidance and next-gen managed services to help enterprises, especially ones in highly regulated industries, migrate and manage workloads across all platforms and architectures in the cloud.

“Our collaborative implementation and engagement model emphasizes skill and knowledge transfer to help clients accomplish their cloud objectives. We enable businesses to succeed in the cloud over the long term by making them self-sufficient for Day- 2 operations,” says Kenneth Johnson, BSC’s Founder, CEO and Chief Cloud Strategist.

What has enabled BSC to perform over 300 cloud initiatives with unwavering success is its team of highly qualified senior DevOps engineers. These experts have years of experience in software development and full-stack capabilities in microservices, Kubernetes, serverless computing, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines. They are also mindful of the pitfalls and attuned to the opportunities for automation of all deployment processes.

Deep expertise, combined with BSC’s Agile methodology and unique engagement model, enables them to accelerate project completion and make infrastructure changes quickly without errors. For example, the company assisted a client with migrating their entire infrastructure into Terraform modules to ensure that all future changes are approached with an IaC process. The client—a major US arts institution—needed to support massive digital image libraries, digital publishing, and high-quality software tools for the use of educational institutions worldwide.
The client’s highly competent, internal engineering and operating teams had developed containerized microservices architectures for their applications. However, adherence to the required compliance and governance structures and a lack of standardization and automation in the software delivery pipeline made it difficult for them to quickly make high-value changes to their digital products. They needed a low-friction platform to deploy their microservices while maintaining reliability and security without the need to interact with infrastructure teams for every change.

We enable businesses to succeed in the cloud over the long term by making them self-sufficient for Day-2 operations

Upon onboarding, BSC embedded a platform team to work alongside the client’s engineers to enhance knowledge transfer and collaboration while establishing the roadmap for the client’s teams. BSC helped build all-new EKS clusters in Terraform and trained the client’s team on how to add new clusters and workspaces as needed. BSC also demonstrated the migration of the initial workloads and subsequently encouraged the client to implement the next bundle of applications themselves—all under BSC’s supervision. By the last deployments, the client team was self-sufficient at quickly making infrastructure changes while ensuring security and repeatability across environments.

Unlike other vendors who focus on just migrating businesses to the cloud at a fixed fee, BSC provides clients with complete flexibility around the scope of engagement and predictability of billing. All BSC client success stories owe credit to this results-focused approach to helping companies achieve cloud-native results cost-efficiently. The combination of flexibility and collaboration to help the client achieve self-sufficiency for Day-2 operations is what makes Blue Sentry Cloud unique.
