Founded in 2019, Propelo helps customers achieve excellence in their engineering factory to deliver products securely, reliably, and predictably. Nishant Doshi, Founder and CEO at Propelo, notes, "In modern engineering organizations, there are multiple tools, processes, stakeholders, and personas that need to work cohesively to build and release a software. These often result in friction points or bottlenecks that are dynamic in nature. As the team or product grows and scales, the friction points also shift, and our solution is geared toward overcoming this challenge by an innovative combination of data-led insights coupled with no-code automation.” Propelo enables these teams to run faster and unlock productivity by discovering the bottlenecks and helping solve them throughout the entire SDLC. Catering to SMBs and large-sized enterprises, Propelo has already partnered with renowned companies such as Broadcom Corporation, CDK Global, Puppet, Rubrik, and more.
To delineate the capabilities of Propelo, Doshi cites an instance when one of their customers noticed a drop in productivity while scaling the organization. Propelo stepped in to help resolve the situation, looked into multiple aspects of the client's delivery pipeline, and immediately honed in on the root cause—an asymmetry in their code review process. Propelo identified that for every fifteen people writing code at the organization, there was only one person reviewing it. While the customer had added several new engineers to their team, they had failed to update their review process. "We identified the problem and added automation to improve the process by nudging the developers to move faster in a timely manner. We excel by using data-informed insights to set up the right We excel by providing engineering leaders data-led SDLC insights to improve productivity, quality and security Nishant Doshi automation playbook to either track or remediate obstacles that may arise," adds Doshi.
In this customer’s case, it was necessary to identify the bottlenecks fast and resolve them through automation. Propelo achieved this by bringing together data from multiple DevOps tools, such as Version Control, Issue Tracking, and CI-CD, and ensuring actionability through its no-code, out-of-thebox automation playbooks. To drive effective and contextual actionability through its platform, the company baked in automation alongside the analytics. The result is a SaaS platform that connects to more than 40 DevOps tools with an adaptable, open API,customizable dashboards, and no-code automation playbooks that can be easily customized to suit enterprisespecific situations.
We excel by providing engineering leaders data-led SDLC insights to improve productivity, quality and security
Propelo’s value proposition optimizing the entire SDLC process with a data-led approach can be best illustrated with the success story of one of its enterprise customers that encountered customer satisfaction issues. These issues arose due to frequent escalations from support to development and the time taken for this round-trip. Propelo stepped up to the task and helped them address the problem. While the support team believed the problems were the result of bad code, Propelo's analysis revealed that more often than not, the root cause was a configuration issue, which could easily have been addressed by customer support staff itself with training and better documentation. Thus, saving the developer time and increasing customer satisfaction. Propelo combined the data coming in from three different sources— the support tool from Salesforce, the engineering ticketing system from Jira, and the source code from GitHub. Without Propelo's expertise in combining and analyzing data from multiple sources, the client would have spent significant time and money to evaluate the cause of the problem without reaching a data-led conclusion. "In today's fast-paced and volatile business environment, organizations need to make data-informed decisions to quickly identify and mitigate issues. With our solution, the customer was able to do just that without wasting valuable time and resources," says Doshi.
Within a few years of its inception, Propelo has received significant traction in the DevOps space—breadth, flexibility, and adaptability. The company's platform is flexible enough to accommodate the different development processes among teams, bespoke processes, and heterogenous DevOps toolchains. Moreover, Propelo isn’t limited to the continuous integration and development (CI/CD) process. Propelo considers the entire software delivery life cycle. "Our end-to-end approach takes into account interactions and patterns, across planning, development, CI-CD, security and support. We take a holistic approach and stitch all the data together to get the best results," says Doshi.
Steering ahead, Propelo aims to accelerate its go-tomarket strategies, provide new in-depth insights, and nocode automationto help organizations achieve engineering excellence.
