Piyush Mehta, CEOAs data grows across the systems in a typical business setting, most companies lose track of what data they have, who owns it, and how relevant is that data to their current business. They need to adopt artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and automation to better comprehend and extract greater value from their new and legacy data. These technologies empower enterprises to channel the right data—spread across their hybrid, cloud, and object-based storage infrastructures—into their business applications for maximum outcomes while reducing the cost to store and support their growing data. Further, custom metadata allows businesses to gather information about a file quickly. Apart from adding more intelligence to the enterprise data, custom metadata tagging helps in creating connections between different objects such as age, type, and size. “Custom tags enable you to type in a keyword and quickly have a listing of thousands of matching documents,” says Piyush Mehta, CEO, Data Dynamics. As a result, “search time shortens from days to seconds.”
What started as a platform to help customers migrate data across storage platforms, Data Dynamics’ StorageX has evolved over the years into an analytics-driven platform for data management, storage, and intelligence. With more visibility into the metadata characteristics, companies can easily distinguish between valuable and less valuable data. Once segregated, the latter can be moved to a low-cost cloud-based storage tier, where the storage cost can be mitigated to a fraction of what companies are already spending.
More enterprises today adopt the hybrid cloud model for scalability and security. “Leveraging this trend, we tie together through an API layer the cloud-based tiering capability, intelligence, and metadata tagging to extract value for functions such as Hadoop or AI. “Everything we do is not just UI-driven, but API-driven as well,” says Mehta. In the DevOps world, developers can leverage StorageX technology to not only align with operational processes but understand where sensitive data is situated. This awareness helps in improving data security and business execution.
Access to, and security of data is the lifeblood to every enterprise today! StorageX provides visibility, accessibility and mobility to enable raw data into an empowering asset
“The more diverse the client data and systems, the more value we can deliver to them,” says Mehta. “A company having huge legacy data can run our analytics module in the subset of their environment to have deep insights such as the percentage of the data that has remained untouched over the years.” StorageX can be deployed either on a virtual machine or as a hybrid model where enterprises can deploy it partially on the cloud and run UDE (Universal Data Engines) locally. In a hybrid cloud model, for example, clients can store their cold data on the public cloud while keeping active data on-premise. Besides identifying both dark data and orphan data, the customer can monitor, measure, and control the petabyte-scale data project through the GUI.
Recently, Data Dynamics helped one of its clients save multi-million dollars of the operational cost incurred on an annual basis. The client was struggling to move six petabytes of their data to a cloud tier until Data Dynamics stepped in and implemented its StorageX solution.
Data Dynamics credits its success to its dedicated and committed employees who have played a pivotal role in driving client success. While the company continues to grow exponentially, it remains focused on adding more security to its metadata management layer. It also aims to make AI native to the platform to supplant the manual policy settings with automated policy recommendations for maximum value extraction from data and richer customer experience.
